How the Tool Works

The ABPI Code Compliance Checker uses AI to analyse promotional claims against key clauses of the ABPI 2021 Code of Practice. Here's a breakdown of how the tool processes and evaluates your medical claims:

🧠 Natural Language Processing

Our AI uses NLP techniques to understand the context and meaning of your promotional claim. It breaks down the claim into its constituent parts, identifying key phrases, product names, and descriptive elements.

🔍 Contextual Interpretation

The AI considers the context of the claim, including any qualifications or supporting information provided. It's designed to understand nuances in language that might affect compliance.

🧩 Pattern Recognition

The AI has been trained on a large dataset of compliant and non-compliant claims. It uses this training to recognize patterns that are typically associated with Code compliance or potential violations.

📊 Confidence Scoring

For each aspect of the analysis, the AI assigns a confidence score. This score reflects how certain the AI is about its assessment, based on the clarity of the claim and how closely it aligns with or deviates from known patterns of compliance.

📋 Clause-Specific Analysis

Each claim is analysed against specific clauses of the ABPI Code (currently Clauses 6.1, 6.2, 6.4, 6.5, 6.6, 14.1, and 14.4). The AI checks for alignment with each clause's requirements, such as accuracy, balance, substantiation, and appropriate use of language

📝 Explanation Generation

Based on its analysis, the AI generates a detailed explanation of its findings. This includes identifying potential issues, referencing relevant clauses, and suggesting improvements.

Claims Database

This database includes a range of examples, including:

  • Compliant claims that adhere to the ABPI Code of Practice

  • Non-compliant claims that violate specific Code clauses

  • Borderline cases that illustrate the nuances of Code interpretation

Each example is accompanied by an explanation of its compliance status, relevant ABPI Code clauses, and, where applicable, suggestions for improvement.

While this database serves as a valuable reference, it's important to remember that each promotional claim is unique and context-dependent. Use these examples as a guide, but always rely on the full ABPI Code, our Compliance Checker tool, and expert judgment for your specific case.
